Celebrating Chinese New Year

Today, to celebrate Chinese New Year we had some extra special visitors for our assembly!

They told us ancient stories of how the dragons would chase the ‘Pearl of Wisdom’. We also learned of how villagers and Buddha would give the dragon offerings such as lettuce in return for good fortune and new beginnings for the year ahead.

We all absolutely loved our morning, and some lucky children even got to become a dragon!

Layla Ali: Pupil Book Blog

The book l am reading is called Happy Mouseday, written by Dick King-Smith. It is about a boy who wants a mouse as a pet but his Mum and Dad are afraid of them. So he got one and kept it in his tree house without his mum and dad knowing. The boy is called Pete and the mouse hasn’t got a name yet. I am up to page 21 and I am enjoying the book. Pete went to his dad’s workshop and asked him if he could make something and then his dad said ‘I need to know what you are building’ and Pete said ‘I am just making something for my tree house’ but really he was making a house for his mouse!
