Due to COVID-19, Breakfast Club is not currently open. All children have the opportunity to eat a small snack such as toast each morning, provided by school.
At Pleasant Street Primary School we recognise the importance of a healthy breakfast to start the day. Our Breakfast Club starts at 7:45am and costs 30p a day (free for Pupil Premium children).
The club is well staffed with 2 members of the catering team preparing and serving food and 4 additional members of staff interacting with pupils and supervising activities.
Food served each morning includes:
- a range of cereals
- baked beans
- scrambled eggs
- baked eggs
- vegetarian sausage
- toast and a selection of conserves
Food is served for 45 minutes from 7:45am – 8:30am by the catering team.
During Breakfast Club children have the opportunity to socialise with friends as they eat breakfast before accessing activities such as arts and crafts, model making and table tennis. Activities last for 55 minutes from 7:45am – 8:40am. The responsibility for tidying up resouces from Breakfast Club is that of the additional members of staff and children.
During extreme weather conditions when the playground is not accessible from 8:30am a DVD will be played in the hall for all children arriving early in school until 8:50am. Teachers will then collect children from the hall.
Additionally, children from Breakfast Club will be identified and selected for booster sessions in English and Maths basic skills which run from 8:30am – 8:50am.
School lessons start at 8:55am prompt and attendance at Breakfast Club ensures all children are fully fed and on time ready to start learning.
