The children were familiar with the ‘Fab Four’ from Year 1 and they loved listening to ‘Help’, particularly enjoying the music clip of John, Paul, George and Ringo.
The children worked well this afternoon to assemble their wheels and axles onto their vehicle body, even trying them out on the classroom floor!

As Holocaust Memorial Day approaches this week, the children of Class 2 listened attentively as they learned about this time in history and the theme of discrimination.

The children began their topic today, thinking about celebrations which are important before looking at the important Christian festival Easter and retelling the story.
The class enjoyed listening to author Lucy Farfort this morning, after enjoying her book ‘In our Hands’ – a book about hope, unity and positivity! They also drew characters who would transform the world! The book links in well with the upcoming Mental Health and Wellbeing Week.
As the class began to assemble their vehicles, the children displayed great sawing skills as they cut their axles!
Lots of memories brought back (for the adults at least!) as the class listened to Lynn Anderson’s country hit ‘Rose Garden’. One girl in particular loved this style of music!
The children worked hard again this afternoon, using a hacksaw to cut dowels to the correct length – these would act as axles on their vehicles!
The children discussed the importance of being safe online this afternoon and the need to make common sense decisions and always speak to a trusted adult.
The children learned that their voice matters – by expressing their feelings and understanding their rights, children can improve their mental health.
As part of their topic on festivals across faiths, the children discussed what matters most to believers at Easter.
The children ended the half term listening to ELO’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’ enjoying its happy, bright tune and the animation too!!
Using Tom Percival’s ‘Meesha Makes Friends’ as a stimulus, the children produced some excellent instructions of how to make friends before completing a P4C session with the question ‘Should there be rules for making friends? Would rules make it easier?’
The children were excited to start their Art topic this afternoon, looking at different types of cameras and discussing their uses.
Today in science we learnt about our heart rate and if we do exercise our heart rate will be faster. We went out to the playground to test this.
12The children enjoyed the pulsing sound of Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger’ this afternoon. It was certainly familiar and had the children using their air guitars!
The children enjoyed a fantastic afternoon taking photographs of objects, patterns and places of interest, as part of their Art topic.
The children ended their topic about how and why people celebrate special and sacred times, by comparing the festivals of Easter, Passover and Eid. They then completed a quiz, which was lots of fun!!

The children listened to two legends this afternoon, as Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney sang ‘Ebony and Ivory’. They enjoyed the song and discussed its message.
The children discussed strategies on how to deal with worries this afternoon – why sharing worries is important and which adults can be trusted to speak to. The class also watched a 1Decision clip before choosing the best action.
The children wore some wonderful costumes and outfits today, as they celebrated World Book Day in style. There were superheroes in class, along with wizards and princesses! The children were also excited to take home their free book.
The children loved the rock sounds of Guns’n Roses this afternoon with their classic ‘Sweet Child ‘O Mine’ – there were some fantastic air guitars!
The children listened attentively to how women in the past fought for equality and talked about inspirational women – as Class 2 learned about International Women’s Day.
The children enjoyed the acoustic sounds of Oasis this afternoon, with their single ‘Don’t look back in anger’. They enjoyed the guitar sounds especially!!??
The children remembered Bobby Colleran today and listened to the importance of crossing the road safely and cars obeying the speed limit.
Our PSHE lessons have been focusing on the emotions of worry and anger this half term.
Class 2 enjoyed the acoustic sounds of Tracy Chapman in our latest Listen and Appraise session, with children commenting on her distinctive voice.
The children were practised their musical notes with Mrs Grindley and impressed with their knowledge and application.

This Morning Class 2 has been exploring Databases. To begin we had a class discussion about the different types of information you can have and what private information is. Children then moved onto look at the type of information you can have and what an ‘online’ and ‘offline’ database is, we listed some different examples. As a class we then created an offline database about Class 2 and children explored and collected information from an online database.
8Well done to all the children today, completing our Diversity Day work using the book ‘Specs for Rex’. The children discussed how it is ok to be different and everybody has something unique about themselves. In the story, Rex was worried about wearing new glasses, but he soon found they had positive effects!!
After researching different types of chair and their features, the children tried constructing their own using Lego sets!
The children thought carefully this afternoon about the things that should and shouldn’t be shared online. They made a common sense decision using the 1Decision clip!
The class used a variety of ‘attachment techniques’ this afternoon, practising the skills required to construct their chairs!!
The children demonstrated excellent maths skills this morning, knowing how to split numbers to reach ten to help with subtractions.

The children worked hard this morning to create a database of animals! They looked at things like height, weight and life expectancy.
This morning Year 2 have been continuing with their presenting data topic, by creating top trump cards about different animals. Children conducted research and gathered records and fields about 4 animals of their own choice. Using excel we then inputted the data to create a digital version of a top trump card.
4In Class 2 we are learning about musical elements. We learnt a song called ‘Rhythm in the way we walk’.
In PSHE today, the children recapped the benefits of healthy eating and choosing the right foods for a sensible diet. They watched a 1Decision video before making the correct choice for the character.
The children began their RE topic by discussing what it means to care for others and why it is important. They watched the story of the Good Samaritan and thought about what it means to be a good neighbour. Some of the children acted as the injured old man receiving help!
The children loved the distinctive sound of Pink this afternoon, listening to ‘What about us?’. They were surprised to know she is playing part of her tour in Liverpool this summer!
The children enjoyed practising their tennis skills this morning in P.E. – using forehand and backhand!
As part of their History topic ‘Changes in our city’ the children visited Liverpool Cathedral today to learn more about this famous landmark and its history.
The children enjoyed putting the equal parts together to recognise halves, thirds and quarters.
The children loved the familiar sound of Alicia Keys this afternoon, singing along to her hit ‘This girl is on fire’. Very popular indeed!

We recapped everything we have learnt this half term. We also enjoyed some of our favourite Spanish songs.
The children listened to important safety messages today about Rail Safety and how to stay alert when near rail lines.
We watched a video about the creation story and then we drew pictures to match what happened on each day. The children thought about how powerful God must be and the importance of looking after the Earth.

The children produced some amazing sculptures this week as the class ended their art topic!
Listening to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Lego House’ this afternoon, the children enjoyed the gentle ballad, while one member of the class recognised the actor who appeared in the music video.
The children spent the afternoon completing their pre-task – using an atlas to find countries within continents.
Thank you to our visitors teaching us the importance of staying safe in and around water. We learnt techniques how to keep ourselves safe and what to do if we see anyone in need of help.

The class practised their cricket skills this morning, using throwing skills, aiming for the stumps and acting as a back stop.
The children marked continents on a world map this afternoon before discussing places in the world they had visited and using Google Earth to explore!
Today in class 2 we did conscience alley trying to persuade Jack to either go up the Beanstalk or not!
The class modified images they’d saved onto iPads, by cropping or adding filters, resulting in some eye-catching effects!
Each week in Forest School Club the children enjoy an activity of their choice, this weeks task was a “Bug Hunt”. We had so much fun exploring the Early Years outdoors looking for different insects.
